My goal this year (and last year) is to be reasonable and use what I have FIRST.
I wish I was better disciplined in this area.
"If wishes were fishes we'd all have a fry."
I saw these Kaffe's on the 50% off table. (Oh no).
You know how I love those Kaffe's. I bought some backs for future quilts, and a few small cuts.
I just couldn't help myself.
Then I saw a basket with fat quarters for only 99 cents. I was proud of myself for keeping it to 2.
Material Girls had these cute patterns "Smartie Pants" for babies. I think my future little grand daughter has to have some of these.
The pattern says "The perfect accessory for every well dressed baby". Got me right in the middle of my grandma heart.
Sandy Workman, owner of Pine Needles has designed a basket pattern. Baskets have been calling to me too, and this one has handles made out of ric rac.
I have lots of ric rac, and I could make this one with leftover scraps. (rationalize, rationalize)
I see more covered buttons in my future.
It's an illness, I tell you.
For months I've been wanting some of the scissor fabric from the Wonderland collection. Every store I've looked at has been out.
Then the Quilting Cottage in American Fork had it on sale. (no fair)
When I was with Kim of Bitty Bits and Pieces at Pipers she showed me this Pom Pom Maker from Clover. At first I had visions of those yarn things and knew my self control was in tact.
Then she said they can be used with fabric to make all kinds of wonderful things.
Uh oh.
My friend Judi showed me a whole shelf of beautiful trims at Gracie Lou's. I should have taken a picture because every single one was a keeper.
I have no idea what I will do with the trim yet, but I just about broke my arm patting myself on the back for only buying a yard of one piece. Deep down I wanted to buy the whole display.
In the end, I wasn't as good as I had hoped to be, but I was better than I have been in the past.
Sigh....The Story Of My Life.
Judi gave me this darling pincushion that she purchased on a European etsy site.
I love the red and hand stenciled designs.
Thank you Judi! I will think of you every time I look at it.
I think you rationalize your purchase the same way I do! I love that Wonderland scissor fabric too! What are you going to use it for?
ReplyDeleteIt's all too beautiful! Haven't forgotten about the covered buttons - just need some time!
ReplyDeleteHugs - Lurline♥
I'd jump at half price Kaffes too.Now you can't stop looking at fabric without seeing buttons, lol.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind picking up a pincushion like the one you have. What's the etsy site?
ReplyDeleteLooks like you were 'had' the minute you stepped out the door...lots of wonderful goodies...I think you resisted pretty good though.
ReplyDeleteOh.. I have the same wish as you. SOME day I will use it all.
ReplyDeleteI have to thank you for sharing all the wonderful photos from Nanette's house. It was so much fun seeing her work area. She is so organized!
And thanks for all the wonderful photos the past couple weeks of the shop hops and quilt shows.. I just love your posts. The one about hooking was hilarious. :-)
I think you showed quite a bit of restraint while going to all of those quilt shops!!
ReplyDeleteHey, a woman after my own heart. I have to give myself pep talks and set boundaries. This quilt thing is not just a passing fancy. I think it constantly calls our name...hahaha
ReplyDeleteMary
I must order the pattern for those cute little ruffled pants for Miss Camden.
ReplyDeleteAll considering you did pretty well! Going to that many stores is really a challenge to walk out empty! Good stuff, really.
ReplyDeleteI loved your post. Did you already make the pom pom pens? Wow! I need to get to it and make some myself, they look great. Alas, I've been working on my secret project and it'll post just past midnight on the 27th. It's looking great!
ReplyDeleteYou did good!! I love everything you bought!! I need to get me a pom-pom maker...it looks fun! I have a date for you...
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I love that pincushion and the clover yo yo maker, as I do all of the fabrics!
ReplyDeleteMicki
Nedra, I think you did really good on your spending, with all the shops you went to. Cute fabric and all the trim is in now. Can't wait to see what all you make.
ReplyDeleteLove the little dress in the last post, is it a certain pattern?
Keep Stitchen'

Nedra...now that our shop hop is over and I can recuperate after 4 days of non-stop, almost, shopping I will show some highlights of our shop hop and some of the damage that I did. Much, much rationalizing going on, I'll say, for all of us quilters!
