Dixie Diva May Day Meeting

Today was our Dixie Diva day meeting at my house. Summer is upon us with some out of town, and others working, so our numbers were small.
Margaret is making a quilt for a family member out of these wonderful Amy Butler and Joel Dewberry fabrics.

Family members call her up and request quilts, and she is always so willing to put one together for that special person.
This one is for a grandson who loves fire engines.
The back is pieced with several colors of Minky.
We think her grandson will love the back as much as the front.
Margaret has been putting together the blocks from the pattern "B + D with Four Patch Chain" from Marti Michell. She brought what she has done so far to get our opinion on what colors would look good in the stop borders.
Pat is generously making an appliqued quilt for a lady who lives here in St.George.
She is even hand quilting the piece. I want to know how I get on that list. Pat's work is exquisite!
Jan K. and I worked on our Mumbo Gumbo. Jan is doing all of hers in batik's.
I finished 4 sides that will make up one block. The strips can be cut from 1 1/4 inch to 2 inches wide. Then you mix them up as you sew them together in a type of half log cabin pattern.
I love not having to worry about if things match in size or color. A very random project.
Just seeing all my scraps put together in one project brings back so many memories of past quilts.
I really enjoyed working on this today. I will make 12 large blocks total before the quilt is done.
