Dixie Diva March Night Meeting/ Part 2

Here are some more pictures from last night's Dixie Diva Night Meeting.
Remember our theme was St. Patricks Day? Here are a few quilts that Margaret used to decorate her house.

This last year our group did a block exchange. We each selected our own fabrics that we placed in a bag with our name. The bag was then passed around from member to member each month. We had a pre-selected block that we worked on every month. In the end we each got back a pile of blocks made by the different members of our Diva group. It was up to us individually to come up with a setting.

As a reminder, this was how Margaret put her blocks together.

This is how Verny put hers together.

This was mine.

Last night Ricci unveiled her block exchange quilt. Wow!

She sent it to a friend in California to have it machine quilted. Look at the amazing work! Ricci's only parameter was that she use Superior Thread, which Ricci sent with the quilt.

All of ours have the same blocks, but don't they look so different?
We did some Show and Tell. Margaret is making an apron for her daughter.
Margaret just finished this baby quilt. The fabric was striped.
Bev held this quilt up for me to photograph. She thought she had her face hidden behind the quilt. The only problem was I could still see her St. Patricks Day headband sticking up over the top. And it jiggled, jiggled, jiggled, making us all laugh!
Margaret put minky on the back and machine quilted it with teddy bear designs.

Margaret just got back from babysitting her grandbabies in the Phoenix area. While she was there she took at class at a quilt store called "Zoes" and made these cute bags. She said it took 2 fat quarters, a zipper, and some scraps of batting.
We are going to get together as Divas and make some of these. We thought they would make great make -up bags, or cute done in Christmas fabric. Margaret is making one for her grandson to put his toy cars inside.
This is Bev's latest. She even did her own machine quilting.

Now for our BIG Ta Da!!!! moment!!! Pat has finished the quilt she has been working on for the last year.
This quilt is all hand appliqued, and hand quilted. I can't even comprehend what Pat has attempted in her work. Amazing!

Pat will be one of our featured artists at our Quilt Show here in St. George on April 10th and 11th. If you have an opportunity to come into town that weekend I would highly recommend it. Our Guild's show will be at the Dixie Center and cost is only $5 for both days. We will have a lot of things going on, so be sure and come!

  1. Oh my gosh, I don't know where to begin. The quilting on Ricci's quilt looks STUNNING! I love it! And man, that hand appliqued quilt is just amazing. I have a lot of respect for people who have the ability to do all of that by hand. It's beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
