Nanette's Mixed Bag

Last week when I was at the quilt retreat at Bryce, I purchased a bag pattern and kit from Nanette of Freda's Hive. I love how Nanette combines vintage fabrics in her creations.
My girlfriend Judi also purchased a kit from Nanette. Judi came home with me to St. George, and the last few days we have been working on our bags together.
This is the start of Judi's bag. Her colors are mainly red.

Judi dressed her bag up by running trim down the middle of each fabric strip.
Nanette included hand made buttons with each of her kits. Look how she fussy-cut each design. So cute!

For the inside lining, Judi used "Olivia" fabric.
The colors of my bag are more green.

We quilted the front and back pieces. I love the bird in this vintage fabric.
I loved the horse fabric, too.
And look at the cute button from my kit!
Finished bag.
This bag was easy to do, and very fun to make. Now that I have the pattern I want to make more! I have a lot of scraps that can be put to good use.

    Love the bags, and LOVE Nanette!! I got to meet her too, last Summer when I went back to UT. Now that is one woman who can quilt!!! I also loved seeing all your photos over the last few days of the retreat. Wish I could have been there!

    Hey Nedra, Love your bag(s)!! Nanette's kits are put together so well. I love all the fabrics she chooses. I made one too and love it. I too want to make a few more as it is a perfect size!! Take care...

    Oh Thanks Nedra. How sweet of you to post this. The bags turned out sooo incredibly cute. I loved seeing Judi last night with hers. The trim idea is wonderful. I really like the linings and how you made them your own despite there being a kit. Cute cute cute! Thank you so much.
