Most of us did hand work today.
Pat continues on the AMAZING applique quilt that is being hand quilted. She has a deadline of completion with in a month. Pat is a featured artist for our upcoming quilt show in April, and she wants this quilt to be part of her presentation. I'll keep you updated with pictures in the next few months.
Pat and Jan K. are close friends. Jan is also an amazing appliquer. Today she completed work on the quilt below. Takes my breath away.
I did some close up shots so you could see her detailed work.
I love the beautiful contrast of the batik flowers against the black.
Margaret shared with us a quilt she is getting ready to start. She found this fabric and thought it would work perfectly for a quilt designed by Marti Michell.
The pattern is called "Eight Cornered Spider Web Quilts" out of Marti's book Kaleidoscope ABC's. Margaret works a lot with templates, and teaches technique classes using Marti's products. I have always cut my quilts out with a rotary cutter and asked her why she loves working with templates so much. Margaret said that using templates really promotes accuracy.
Margaret and Bev.
Bev has been busy making hundreds (that feels like thousands) of half square triangles. She has been using up a lot of her scraps, and has enough triangles now to make two quilts. She said she feels like she's gotten a little carried away, but just can't stop making them.
None of us knows how that happens do we??
Today is Melissa's birthday. I made soup for our lunch and we had cake and candles. Happy Birthday Melissa!

ReplyDeleteHow fun it is to get together, and because we all like different things and have different tastes, it is so fun to see what others are making. It expands our horizons.
