Dixie Diva September Night Meeting

Last night our friendship group had our night meeting at Jan K's house. We were greeted by her cat "Floppy", who as you can see by the pose, lives up to the name.

Jan K is another amazing applique quilter. This quilt hangs in her entry way.

Margaret and Bev are in charge of our 2009 Quilt Show. This is the Opportunity Quilt the Dixie Quilt Guild members made to be raffled. We were asked to make a "house". Other than the size dimentions, we were encouraged to use our creativity. I was so impressed with the many designs people came up with to represent a house. Raffle tickets are now on sale for any one who wants to join in. You can even contact me on my e-mail if you want to purchase some. I'd be happy to mail them to you. Tickets are 6 for $5 /or $1 a piece. Tickets will be available at the show until the last day when they will do the drawing.

The Quilt Show will be held April 10th & 11th, 2009 at the Dixie Convention Center. So much work is going into this show. Pat Peters will be the featured quilter. There will be a special exhibit by Marilyn Badger. With each paid admission, Superior Threads is offering a tour of their facilities on Friday morning.
We held this show in April 2007 for the first time. Margret said she anticipates we will break all records from the last show. In the 2007 show we hung 300 quilts. More will be displayed in 2009. The vendor mall is growing considerably. There will be special exhibits and a shopping center to purchase hand made quilt items.
These are just a few of the events. Put the date on your calendars now, because it's going to be a fabulous show! Special rates are being offered at the Fairfield Inn Hotel right across the street from the Dixie Convention Center.

For our show and tell, Jan K. brought this quilt out as a donation to cancer charity.
Jan made another BQ quilt for a store sample
Bev spent the summer at her condo in Logan. While she was there she made so many quilts! She really brought a lot of fun things to show and tell.

Margaret made another "Spicy Spiral". This one out of Halloween fabric.

More from Bev

Margaret's latest. We just can't keep up with these two!

Jan J. was binding her latest wall hanging. I think she said she's making 3 more of these!

  1. Oh wow, and I thought our group had lots of talent! Incredible Nedra, really. I would like to come down to that event in April. I can visit my sister in Toquerville anytime so I just may try to do that. How long are tickets available?

That cat picture is precious. It should be in a cat book or calendar or something. It is such a cute pose.
