 I wanted to share with you 

one more quilt that I recently saw hung on the wall at

Scrapbooks, Etc.

in Mesa, Arizona

What a fun quilt!

If you live in the area

Louise is teaching this quilt

as a

Beginners Class 

in an 8 part series

during the months of July and August

I think

Scrapbooks, Etc. is the cutest quilt store

in the Phoenix Metro

and it has wonderful classroom space.

Louise used a Layer Cake

and a

 15-degree ruler

to make her blocks.

 While the temps SOAR

here in Arizona, it would be so REFRESHING

to sit and sew away on a FAN quilt.

Hubble Quilt

One of the nice things about

being able to meet at Scrapbooks, Etc.

during our 

Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild meetings

is being surrounded by beautiful quilts

on the walls.

I love the colors used in this sample.

 Hubble is actually quite a  large Star pattern

measuring  70" X 70"

I think Carrie picked a great name for  her pattern.

As a side note,

Hubble Space Telescope was launched 

way back in 1990

and still remains one of the 

"largest and most versatile" telescopes.

Think of how much technology has changed in the

last 23 years!

The Hubble is the only telescope

built to be serviced in space.

 Beautifully quilted.

Carrie lives here in the Phoenix Metro,

Now that we are both

Bees Knees members,

I think I need to meet her at some point,

don't you?

Applique Workshop with Christy Fincher

 Our Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild

June meeting was last Saturday.

Christy Fincher (Purple Daisies)

taught a great 

Applique workshop

 As a member of our guild,

Christy is always so willing to share her 

vast knowledge with our group.

Christy is the daughter of Sharon Schamber

and lets just say that the 

 talent apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

 I learned a new applique technique that I had never seen before.

Christy showed us how to use an 

Applique Foundation Stabilizer sheet

that makes perfect pieces.

A very cool and easy to do technique.

We were treated to a Trunk Show of

many of Christy's applique quilts.

 So beautiful!

 Christy has co-authored a book with her mom.

 Bari Ackerman  (Bari J.)

is also a member of our guild.

She brought a few samples of her quilts

that she has made using this same technique.

 wow

 The Guild gives great prizes.

Denise won the Fat Quarter bundle

generously donated by Bari.

You can see Bari stitching away right behind Denise.

Scrappy Trips Quilt Blocks

 Our Queen Bee 

Sherri McConnell (A Quilting Life)

started our new year together

as Bees Knees

by hosting this month.

 Sherri sent us fabric and the free tutorial link to

Bonnie Hunter's Quiltville

Scrappy Trips Around The World

quilt block.

I have made this quilt 

and knew how easy the blocks come together.

Won't this quilt be darling in

 bright and happy 

Christmas fabrics?

Sherri had us put the white fabric down the center of each blocks

which gives Scrappy Trips a new look.

Several people have asked me how

our Bee works.

There are 12 in our group.

We each are assigned a month to "host".

On our month we select a quilt block

we would like the 11 others to make.

We mail the fabric with block instructions

to our Bees Knees members 

who live through out the United States.

They make the block and mail it back to the host.

Through it all we write about our 

experience and post pictures over on our

Bees Knees Quilting Bee Blog

We have a lot of fun together

and it's kind of like quilting with

your girlfriends

even when we live in 

various locations.
