Last June I wrote about receiving an
as a birthday present from my family.
Love, love, love my Cruiser Bike!
I knew right away I wanted to
make a quilt to match my bike.
I found a pattern I really liked on line called
by Kelli Fannin (Seriously I Think It Needs Stitches)
The only problem was Kelli had not written a pattern for her quilt.
Lots of e-mails back and forth
and I volunteered to be a pattern tester
for Kelli's first draft.
And to make this story even more fun,
because the quilt had so many Half Square Triangles
she designed the pattern using our
This is my version of Kelli's
made in Aqua with tan seats and handle bars
to match my bike.
Can you see the resemblance?
Pat Roche (Pat's Just Quilting)
worked her magic and
did the most amazing job on
I can almost feel the wind blowing
through my hair
as I look at the movement in her stitching.
I made the entire quilt
(except for the basket)
out of solid Kona Cotton fabrics.
A white basket to match my white basket.
One of the things I loved about this pattern
is the Modern feel of the design.
Wide open spaces so prevalent in Modern quilt designs
mix well with the vintage Cruiser theme.
And Pat's quilting always takes a design to an even higher level.
Thank you Kelli for your wonderful pattern.
I had so much fun working with you!

Kelli's new re-make
(with a few changes)
is sewn with
Gracie Girl fabric
designed by my friend Lori Holt (Bee In My Bonnet)
Don't you just love it in these bright happy pink fabrics too?
I just may have to make another!
Pat Roche also did the long arm quilting
for this cover quilt.
